~"We
love Addie so much!"~
Addie's
best friend writes, "Back in June 2001, when I was about 13, my family adopted a red & black, long haired German Shepherd from
you. Her name was Addie, and she had come from a family in Orlando who couldn't care for her any longer.
She's now about 7 1/2 years old and one of the nicest dogs I've ever known. We do just about everything together! She loves going for walks,
rides and loves to play with her SpongeBob Squarepants squeaky-toy, her
piggy, and her Bugs Bunny.
Addie can, open the fridge door, turn on the water in the shower, etc.
Here she is snuggling with her very own Christmas stocking. She's a great girl!
Addie's birthday is just four days before mine.
So ever since we adopted her in 2001, we celebrate our b-days together. I get a cake for mine and she gets her Frosty Paws! Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you
TBGSDR for Addie. She is wonderful and we love her so much!"

~Ali
- big cheers for the SAR dog!~
"I just wanted to give you an update on Ali. Since I welcomed her to my home, life has not been the same! She has become my best friend and training partner. We started immediately with her
Search And Rescue training and she has shown great progress and potential. During our last mass casualty drill, she showed her newly learned skills by locating her first victim on the third floor of the building! ( amongst cheers from the crew and experienced K9 handlers). What a drive this young lady has, she never shuts down! She has proven to be the family member we were looking for and I just want to thank you for your assistance in the adoption!"
God Bless,
Ali's new daddy Ryan

~Cedric
the sweet overgrown baby~
"Cedric is a beautiful, sweet, over grown baby. He was so silly last night. When we told him to get in the crate he would walk up to me or my husband, whomever asked, with this begging look and throw himself against us and nudge. When he found out he still had to go in, he did, but it was cute how childlike he was acting.
Cedric is so confident and relaxed, nothing seems to phase him. He follows me around and if he does lay down he makes sure he can see me. He likes to walk up to me and nudge me to get attention. He likes us to all be in the same room and if we are not he will roam the house until he has located everyone then he will lay down until he hears someone move. He is very accepting of the kids. He lets them lead him around, he comes to them when they call, and he loves them to pet and love on him. They have been begging for a dog for about a year now and they are so happy."

~A great
new family for Chula~
Chula has been adopted by an Air Force family that recently lost their old
GSD/Greyhound mix they adopted from a shelter in Guam many years ago. She now has 3 feline playmates and an 18 year old buddy. She will be getting obedience as her new dad was a military K-9 trainer/handler and she will be mom's walking companion. She is a very active puppy, jumps, bites and chews on everything she can get into her mouth. She will walk on a leash, goes up and down stairs and has been socialized with other dogs, cats, horses and goats. She will need obedience class and we recommend agility to direct some of her energy and assist her in being a well adjusted family pet. TAMPA BAY GSD RESCUE would like to thank
Dr. Duke (Companion Animal Hospital in Tampa) and his staff for all their work, assistance and donation of time and services in getting
Chula and her littermates though the terrible health problems they came in with.

Dali - velcro dog and keeper of the horses
~
Hello, I just wanted to update you on Willie the puppy, who we adopted from you in 2004. He is now known as
Dali.
He is the best, most wonderful dog. He is my companion of every moment. He's sleeping at my feet right now. No matter where I go or what I have to do, he is ready to go and be with me at that moment. Never have to call his name. He's right there.
He absolutely loves to spend time with the irrigation technicians who work for us
who are always buying him balls and bones. Everybody who knows Dali, just loves him.
Dali is a great horse herder but has learned not to touch them. He often relaxes in the stalls with them. The horses seem to understand that though he will bring them in from the pasture, he is no threat so they don't mind sleeping with him when he is so inclined. He is bottom of the heap with our shelties but makes the rounds of
our 5 acre property with them each morning and night. He LOVES to sit in the pond with just his head sticking above the water and swimming is his absolutely favorite pastime. Chasing balls in the pond is the ultimate satisfaction for him. Our vet just raves over Dali who is muscled to the hilt and has no fat. That's because he is so active and running so much of the time.
Anyway, hubby and I absolutely adore him and thank you for the opportunity to have him as part of our family.

Harley
- herder of goldfish, guinea pigs & biker
dudes ~
Harley's new mom
writes "Harley adores my 3 little girls & is very
protective of them, but he is especially fond of my husband and
his Harley Davidson. The dog is absolutely delighted whenever he hears the
motorcycle pull in the driveway. He has to check out bike &
rider ... then personally escort the rider to his recliner
chair.
Harley (previously known as Lefty) loves to
follow the cats around to see what they are up to. Who
knows, they might find food! Then in his spare time he goes and
lets the baby guinea pigs out of their cage in my daughter's
room and follows them around till someone sees what he's doing
& puts the piggys back up. During the day when we go
out in the backyard to play Frisbee, if Harley disappears he can
be found standing chest deep in my ornamental goldfish
pond......big goof! I got him his own kiddy pool but, oh
no, there's no gold fish to watch swimming around you.
Well, what can I say?
He's a keeper!!" - Renee

Kasey Lace With The Pretty Face~
Kasey
joined our family in August of 2003, at the age of 11 months.
She has been a delightful member of this household ever since!
She will be 5 years old this September- where has the time gone?
Kasey likes to play ball, Frisbee and tug o'war. She likes to
chase cats and squirrels! She lets us know who's at the door
with a happy yip for a friend, or a warning bark for a stranger.
She's a BIG girl, standing 26" at her withers and weighing
in at 75 pounds. She shows no signs of the dreaded hip
dysplasia; she is a very healthy, happy pupster! Our thanks to
Tampa Bay GSD Rescue for letting us adopt our beautiful, lovable
Kasey, AKA "Kasey-Lace with the Pretty Face" or
"Hound of the BasketKase"!! (Hey, all really loved
pets have extra names!) BJ & Cliff

Lucky Rosie ~
Lucky
(now called Rosie) was adopted by a family in central FL. She is now living
happily ever after on a farm with kids, horses, another dog and cats
so she will have plenty of exercise and attention.
She is a 3 month old female long coat (she may be a mix) that was picked up as a stray off of I-4 with a broken leg. Her owners were traced with a microchip but did not want her back.
Her new mom is an MRI tech and can monitor her bone and growth plate development in the leg and wrist.

Max has a new job and a new family to love ~
Max has been adopted by a disabled veteran that will train him as his assistance dog. Max knew he had a job already; went for a walk beside the chair even backed up, when they stopped Max would sit facing Melvin and when he told him
"hup" (German for up) he jumped into the van and with the doors open waited for the wheel chair to load. Max & Melvin will also be seen in the agility training ring and obedience ring soon.
Max's new daddy writes "Thank you so very much because its been a blessing putting me together with Max. He has been
wonderful and is a very good dog for my needs. He looks after me when
I'm not feeling well and even goes to my room to check on me and then returns to his area in the house. Both my wife and I are really amazed at the intelligence and abilities he has exhibited to us. He listens so well and does all that is asked of him. We have left him alone in the house while going
shopping and we return with no problems at all. He lets us know when he has to go to the bathroom and when he wants to play. So thanks once again from the bottom of our hearts."

Newman
loves his new big sister ~
"We wanted to send you a photo of Newman,
formerly known as Apollo. He is adapting well to his new
home, being walked every morning, playing Frisbee every evening and is doing very well on “sit, stay
and come”. He gets introduced to his vet tomorrow.
We
wanted to send you a photo of him and his big sister DeDe.
They're getting along so well! The first night, we put him
in a crate at the foot of our bed and of course he began to
cry. DeDe lay down beside the crate and he immediately stopped
crying. Things are going great!
Thanks again." -Newman's new momma Donna

Phoenix, still
a Beauty! ~
"We just wanted to send you some
photos of Beauty. We've given her a new name - Phoenix, and she has taken to it very well. She is
great! Still working on her German commands, she loves to play
outside, play ball, and search for things -her bones especially. She
still doesn't care for cats much, but she is a good girl
and completely ignores them on walks & jogs, so
we're making great progress! Thank you for this special
puppy that has made us so happy!" Phoenix's new family,
Travis and Liz!

Saint
has a new herding certificate! ~
"Just dropping a note to let you know everything is going great! The picture is me with Saint GSD Rescue (formerly
known as "Tracey") with her brand new herding instinct certificate! She was completely awesome while being tested. Though neither of us knew what to expect, she looked like a pro once she got out there. Her evaluation form said she kept good distance, regrouped and gathered, had presence, she really impressed me!
When people asked what kennel I got her from, I proudly responded "Tampa Bay German Shepherd Rescue." Next time I will remember to
send photos of Saint playing with my foster dog. Goodness knows, that is what they do
ALL day! Thanks again, she is exactly what I hoped for!"

Sampson is a big happy boy ~
Hi! I'm Sampson. My mom, Arielle, came to
Miss Diane's just before my brothers and sisters and I
were born. My human mom and dad waited patiently for us to get
big enough to find forever homes and when they came to visit us,
I picked them! I did good! I get so much love - my mom says I'm
the most spoiled pup ever!
I am a really big boy now. I'll be 3 years
old in May. I weigh just about 100 lbs and stand about 26 inches
at my shoulder! My mom is real fussy about my food, but I'm not
- I like lots of things! I have several cat roommates and
a human big sister who loves to play with me. I am really good
at playing catch and I love to tug on old socks. I have my own
toy box filled with wonderful things. My favorite toys are ones
that squeak and make lots of noise!
My mom says I am a real "talker"
and she brags about how smart I am. She says I know each one of
my toys by name and each of my cat roommates by name. She says
I'm a good boy. I can jump real high and my mom is trying
to get me to catch Frisbees, but I just like to chew 'em up! I
love to go for walks around our neighborhood. I pretty much
think I own the whole place! I like most people, but I love my
family. My mom, dad, and sister say, "Thank you for
bringing us together!!!" I hope you can see what a happy
boy I am!
Love, Sampson

Schatzi
loves her new family! ~
After many months of discussion,
our family decided to rescue a German Shepherd Dog. We'd been wanting a
family dog for a very long time. We desired a GSD based on my childhood experience being raised with them; this and it being an excellent breed.
We loved
the fact that we've saved a life! She is considered a Hurricane Katrina dog as she was displaced after her original family was kicked out of a
FEMA trailer. Since then, she'd
been bounced around many shelters.
Though her original name was Allie,
we've renamed her Schatzi ( German for " Sweetheart"). From the moment we brought her home, she instantly bonded with all of us. Regan, Andrew, Martin and I have loved every moment with her. She seems to be happy and is starting to be more playful. The kids love her. The cats are skeptical, but are all doing fine. She is a wonderful fit for our family.
Thank
you so much! A family with animals is a true family at heart.

Sue ...so sweet ~
Sue
has been adopted by a family with 4 cats and someone home
most of the time. She is enjoying the attention and will be
starting more obedience classes soon with her new mom. Sue is a Hurricane
Katrina survivor that needed someone to love. She is a 4 to
5 year old small dark black & tan female housedog that after
8 months in foster care finally found her forever home. Sue
tested positive for heartworm in Oct but has now been treated
for it and is on monthly heartworm preventative.
Her
foster mom writes, "Sue is such a beautiful girl though I
am convinced she's not had much socialization. We worked on that
while she was here. I understand that a lot of animals have gone
through a very stressful situation for the weeks after the
hurricanes, so we tried to give her some time to settle into her
new environment as well as giving her some basic training. She
has completed her 2nd 8 week session of obedience and is doing
great. She does get excited but is really enjoying the attention
even if she has to sit and stay sometimes. She loves to play
ball and we give her Kongs to keep her busy. She whines when she
isn't getting enough attention. She is such a great dog.... very
sweet."

Everyone
loves Xena ~
Xena is a solid black 3 year old female that needed to find a
new home due to the untimely death of her owner. She is a very loyal, lovable dog. She came
to TBGSDR well socialized, already housebroken and eager to learn.
Xena's forever family writes, "We just love her. She is just wonderful. It was quite emotional for Melissa to part with part of her mother's life. But I'm sure that she felt we are going to give Xena a great home. Xena now has a 2 1/2 yr old GSD brother named King and 3 kids to keep her busy. Thank you so much for making this possible. I had quite a time getting the kids to go to school today. They are just so excited!"
